based in kanagawa, self-taught ceramicist takashi endo is currently one of the most sought-after potters in japan. with waiting lines for pieces lasting six months to a year, his work is instantly recognisable for its exquisite thinness met with rough, speckled surfaces, a rigorous creative vision inspired by architecture more than other pottery. endo has abandoned decoration in favour of pure monochrome functionality, and the works have a sense of fragility that is intended to make the user focus, heightening their consciousness and their awareness of themselves in the present moment.
