brought up in the scottish highlands, steven geddes first worked with textile at the london college of fashion before turning his attention to porcelain. his translation to the medium began with an apprenticeship under the noted ceramicist colin pearson, and his work over time has explored the vast possibilities and historical iterations of this ancient, current, timeless medium. now working also in painting and sculpture, geddes' work in porcelain is notable for its attention to the qualities of its surface, which is smooth to the touch but broad in the tonal variety of its colour. each vessel is unique and produced by hand in the artist's east london studio.
